About the Farm.
Bekele Belachew is the owner of a 6-hectare coffee farm in the Segera village in the Bensa district of Sidama zone. The coffee is produced by Bekele, his wife and family. Grown under the shade of native forest and nourished with compost produced onsite, Bekele and family grow two coffee varieties developed by the Jimma Agriculture Research Centre. These varieties were selected from wild plants in the Metu-Bishari Forest in the Illuababora zone in Western Ethiopia. Distributed widely across Ethiopia, these varieties are resistant to disease and produce high yield crops. These two selections are known to have celebrated citrus, berry and floral notes, highly sought by coffee buyers.
